Shokart — Beginner Karting Guide | shokart.store
The outside-inside-outside line, where to brake in a rear-brake-only kart, and the three classic beginner mistakes.
The racing line through a corner runs outside, inside, outside: wide entry from the far side of the track, a clip of the apex at the innermost point, and a wide exit. The shape straightens the corner so you carry more speed with less steering input.
Braking discipline follows from the hardware. A typical rental kart has a rear brake only, so braking is done in a straight line before turn-in — brake, release, then steer. Braking while turning tends to lock the rear wheels and rotate the kart instead of slowing it.
On narrow screens, swipe or scroll the plate sideways.
Braking points depend on the corner and on your own pace, but the order never changes: finish braking, release, turn in, clip the apex with steady or light throttle, unwind the steering and exit wide. Indoor electric karts behave the same way; the powertrain does not alter the braking sequence.
The three classic beginner mistakes are early turn-in, braking mid-corner and ignoring flag discipline. Early turn-in puts you at the apex too soon and leaves no exit room; mid-corner braking rotates the kart; missing a blue or yellow flag is a track-rule failure rather than a driving failure.
Read the diagram before your session rather than discovering the shape lap by lap. One clear mental picture of outside-inside-outside is worth more on lap one than twenty laps of trial and error.
